WHO WERE THE DOKIMOS?

In the time of the apostle Paul, the current bank system did not exist, and coins were made with metal. The metal was melted down and poured out into a mould. After the removal from the mould, the surplus was taken off by polishing the coins. However, some people took off more metal than they should, to produce more coins and satisfy their greedy needs.

Very few trusty “money changers” rejected the “fake coins” and put into circulation those with the correct weight. They were called, “Dokimos”, which means approved or proven.

Referring to those people, Paul exhorted Timothy with these words: “Be diligent to present yourself approved [dokimos in Greek] to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

THE DOKIMOS: A MAGAZINE AND A WEBSITE TO DEFEND THE SOUND DOCTRINE

This exhortation of Paul to Timothy is more than ever true for modern times Christians, who are facing a terrible wave of apostasy. As children of God, we have the duty to denounce the many false doctrines taught in the Church and to warn about the deceitfulness of sin that destroys the world. The Word of God is the ONLY weapon to achieve this task.

“For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth” 2 Corinthians 13:8.

In 2007, the magazine ‘Les Dokimos’ was born in France. It aims to defend the sound doctrine and to analyse the news with a biblical point of view so that children of God would be able to understand the current times and get ready for the return of the Lord Jesus.

In 2010, a website was launched to complete this vision (www.lesdokimos.org).

In 2016, this English website was initiated by a member of the team who moved to the UK.

We are not linked to any denomination. Indeed, the Lord came to build his Church (Matthew 16:18) and not the numerous Christian denominations, invented by men, and sources of division and confusion. Furthermore, ‘non-denominational’ does not mean ‘ecumenical’. Let us precise that the truth, who is, first of all, Jesus Christ himself (John 14:6), cannot be mixed with lies and false doctrines.

On our website, you will find testimonies, messages, and references to some brothers’ works that we may find edifying. However, if these people, now our brothers, were to move away from the sound doctrine in the future, consider that we will not be responsible for the consequences it may have on our readers, for we will never encourage sin. Adding on to that, the editorial team does not recommend any church, pastor or ministry. We only recommend the Lord Jesus, who is the Shepherd and the Overseer of our souls (1 Peter 2:25).

We publish our own articles, the fruits of our investigations, our research, our thoughts and personal meditations. You are free to reproduce our articles on your website, social network, or blog as long as:

  • They are reproduced in their entirety (no alterations are allowed).
  • You mention the source including a link to our website.

Commercial uses are not allowed.

“[…] Freely you have received, freely give” Matthew 10:8

The editorial team works voluntarily; we do not receive any wages or subsidy. We humbly talk to the body of Christ and to those who are looking for the true God. Like the Jews of Berea (Acts 17:11), we invite you to check the accuracy of the message in the Scriptures. In the case of divergent opinions, may everyone search through meditation and prayer the light of the Lord and act according to his intimate and deep conviction (Philippians 3:15; Romans 14:15-23).

May God bless you!
